VISITING HELLENS - VISITOR INFORMATION

Hellens is open on Wednesday and Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday afternoons

 

Entry is by guided tour only and there are tours at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.

 

The House House and grounds close at 5 p.m. each day

 

Tour times may vary during Hellensmusic in May,

the Garden Festival in June  and the Big Apple event in October.

Our tearoom opens at about 12:30 on tour days.

 

The House closes from early October and re- opens Easter Sunday

 

n 2018, we open for House tours on Easter day (Sunday April 1st)

and the last public tour will be Sunday September 30th).

 

Entry costs £9.00 for adults, £7.50 concessions & students, £5.00 children

£20.00 for a family ticket (2 adults and 3 children)

Garden entry only:  £2.50 per person

 

ACCESSIBILITY

Hellens is a historic house and contains many steps, stairs, uneven floors and narrow access. For this reason sadly, it is not possible to bring a wheelchair into the House for tours. Both the Great and Haywain Barns have full disabled access with accessible facilities, and there is level access to parts of the gardens. Parts of the garden are suitable for assisted wheelchair access. If you are bringing children with mobility or sensory impairments, please don’t hesitate to contact us first to discuss your access needs. HELLENS TEA ROOM

The Hellens tearoom is open from 12:30 to 5pm on Wednesday, Sunday

and Bank Holiday Mondays as well as during booked private house and garden group tours.

 

The tea rooms seats 30 inside and 25 outside. We offer a range

of delicious cakes, enjoyed across the world by our visitors!

Additionally, a selection of scones served with jam and clotted

cream are always available along with the quintessentially English

crumpets and hot toasted teacakes.

A full afternoon tea service menu may be provided with a little

prior notice. This includes sandwiches of ham, cheese,

egg and cress with Tyrells crisps, a choice of fruit or plain

scones with jam, clotted cream and a choice of cakes.

We offer a full selection of fine teas and coffee served in an equally

charming array of eclectic and delightful porcelain.

Cold and hot beverages include bottle green squashes and rich hot chocolates.

A gluten free option is always available and vegan choice requests are welcome with advance notice.

 

Hellens is 600 years behind the times and unfortunately we can’t take cards, cash or cheque only- thank you.

 

Private Tour Refreshments & Lunches

 

Refreshments can be provided for your party.

We have a minimum charge policy for 20 people.

Refreshments menu:

These bookings all have unlimited tea and coffee.

 

Tea/ coffee and Biscuits – £2.40

 

Scones (fruit or plain with jam, clotted cream,

or cheese scone with butter) – £3.50

 

A variety of homemade Cakes – £4.50

 

Afternoon Tea – £9 per person

Sandwiches of ham, cheese and egg and cress served with

Tyrells crisps with a choice of fruit or plain scones

with jam and clotted cream and a choice of cakes,

chocolate, Victoria sponge or fruit cake.

 

Lunch menu: £11

Homemade Quiche with a variety of homemade salads

with a seasonal pudding

Wine – £3 per glass

Hellens apple juice – £2 per glass

 

Our Tearoom is open during public tour times, Wednesday and Sunday afternoons.

We serve tea and coffee and home-made cakes.

Please speak to us if you require a special ‘Hellens High Tea’.

Lunches and private tour teas by prior reservation.

The House and Gardens are open for group visits from Easter to October. Please ask. info@hellensmanor.com

The minimum charge for a group visit in 2016 is £160 – this charge is for up to 20 people to include a guidebook per person.

We charge £8 per person thereafter. There are no concessions for group visits.

Garden Tours – Group Visits

 

These groups are taken by our Head Gardener David Maddison. The minimum charge for a group visit in 2016 is £40 –

this charge is for up to 10 people.

We charge £4 per person thereafter to a maximum of 20 people per tour. There are no concessions for group visits.

Please bear in mind that we try to accommodate school visits as a priority, and they are welcome throughout the year by prior appointment, but access to the house may be limited between January and Easter, when the house is officially closed.
